Blues win their third straight game at Knaus Berry Farm
Blues winger Kosta Tkachuk is not worried about missing out on playing in the Champions League on Wednesday night after his club beat Dynamo Kiev 5-2 to secure a spot in the knockout stages.
Tkachur, who is recovering from an ankle injury, said the team is on track for its fourth straight win at the farm game after defeating Dynamo 5-1 at the weekend.
“It’s been good to be here since the start of the season, so I’m happy to be in the position I am,” he told ESPNcricinfo.
“I feel like I’m improving every day and I can only thank everyone for everything that’s been done so far.”
After a 3-0 defeat at home to Spartak Moscow on Sunday, the Blues were without the services of former England international Ashley Cole and were missing their best attacker in defender Matt Pickford.
But after scoring a goal in the opening 30 minutes, Tkaczyk’s team found its stride and were able to build on a 1-0 lead when Tkachev scored with a header.
He also put in a fine display with two assists and three shots on target, including a header in the 27th minute that gave the Blues a 3‑1 lead.
“The performance today was really good and the way we played was really effective,” Tkachek said.
“I think we have a good chance of getting a spot.”
We have a lot of confidence and that’s why we’re here.
I think we’ve shown a lot in preseason.
“Now it’s a matter of going to the final, which will be the game against Olympiakos.”
Konstantin Marinov scored for Dynamo Kiev in the second half as they ended a three-game losing run in the competition.
Tikachuk had also made his first appearance since being recalled by Dynamo after missing the Blues’ last two matches due to injury.
